Omni - Procedures

Each user firm will have its own procedures to deal with different aspects of administration.

Omni can provide links to an index of those procedures plus the procedure notes for some of the most important features.

Settings

The master user for each user-firm can set up the links to procedures by selecting ‘System, Master User Options, Settings’ and then the Procedures tab:

·         The ‘Activated’ box should be ticked – this will display the buttons which access the links. When the Activated box is not ticked, none of the Procedures options will be visible.

·         In the ‘Folder name’ box, store the parent folder for all of the procedures but don’t include any file names – see example below.

·         Under File names, store the file name of each procedure (but don’t repeat the path included in the Folder Name box).

Any type of file can be accessed and so you need to include the extension (e.g. .doc, .xls, .pdf or .htm). To access the file, Omni will add together the path and the filename with ‘\’ in between. For example, if the Folder Name is ‘H:\SIPP Procedures’ and the ‘File name’ is ‘Contributions\Tax Relief Reclaim.doc’ then Omni will access ‘H:\SIPP Procedures\Contributions\Tax Relief Reclaim.doc

Procedure Index

If the settings for Procedures have been activated, the Procedure Index can be accessed from ‘Help, Procedure Index’. You can set up your index to access each of your procedures.

Individual Procedures

Omni can access directly a few important procedures. For example, if you select ‘Reports, Contribution Tax Relief’, the screen has a Procedure button which links directly to the file specified for ‘Contributions Tax Relief Reclaim’ in the Settings screen.

Trouble Shooting

For the file links to work, the procedure notes will all need to be stored with the same folder (the one included in the Folder name box). They can be stored in sub-folders as long as the extra folder name is included in the file name (as in the example above).

If a procedure note is moved or stored under different name, the link in Omni will need to be updated.

The links have to be very precise – it is recommend that the folder and files are found in Windows Explorer and then copied and pasted into Omni.
